Natolac is a softgel preparation containing Omega-3 fatty acid. Each capsule of Natolac contains docosahexanoic 300 mg. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids and need to be supplied by the diet. DHA plays a potential role in the prevention and treatment of maternal postpartum depression, it reduces levels of thromboxane and increase prostacyclin levels leading to enhanced uteroplacental perfusion and oxygen delivery, vasodilatation and thinning of blood.
DHA has following ADVANTAGES to the developing fetus: helps in brain and retinal neural tissue development, accounts for 50% weight of neuronal membranes, improves cognitive development in the infant upto the age of 4 years. Natolac is an ideal supplemental aid during pregnancy and lactation.
